OIL SPILL CLEAN UP AT CANADIAN TIRE LANGLEY BC WITH OIL LIFT™ AND FLUBBER DUST™
Find out how Oil Lift™ successfully cleaned up an oil spill at Canadian Tire Langley BC
In December of 2013, a customer dumped motor oil all over the parking lot at Canadian Tire in Langley BC. Oil Lift™’s task was to clean up the oil spill immediately before it could leak into the streams.
THE SOLUTION-WHAT OIL LIFT™ DID
Drips and drops of used motor oil from cars happen every day in parking lots right across North America and right across the world. In fact, these silent spills flow into the streams creating a huge layer of solid sludge at the bottom of the rivers, choking out the life of the oceans.
Oil Lift knew it was urgent to take action to mitigate the oil runoff pollution at Canadian Tire by using the Oil Lift™ oil remover and the Flubber Dust™, an absorbent material that allows to collect waste oil.
As a first step of the cleaning process, our team sprayed Oil Lift™ oil remover. The idea was to emulsify the oil in order to pick it up much easier.
While Oil Lift™ oil remover was being scrubbed, the Flubber Dust™ was applied.
Flubber Dust™ is used to absorb oils in spills and in environmental remediation. Flubber Dust™ is six to eight times more absorbent than baking soda and pulls everything out of the surface.
After the appropriate dwell time, Flubber Dust™ is swept up and put in a bucket so it can be heated in the Sun, allowing oil molecules to be split and pollution is reversed.
Flubber Dust™ can be dried up and reused until it is completely saturated, generating significant savings on spill clean-up materials at any facility.
When the process is completed, the substrate underneath is dry. On rainy days this action should be done faster to prevent the oil from seeping out and leaking into the streams.
THE RESULT-VALUE DELIBERED
On completion of the job, the pollution was mitigated. Over 99% of the oil was collected and, most importantly, it was done in a very cost-effective way. In fact, we actually reduced operational costs in the business.
Through our work, the costs were insignificant compared to hiring a crew or any equipment that would have cost hundreds of dollars: 25 to 50 cents of cleaner and a 90 dollar pail of reusable Flubber Dust™ which drops the clean-up costs to virtually nothing.
